Before search became an industry

Built for the web before the web became normal.

Jeffrey’s background was formed in an era when technical limitations were not abstract problems. You had to understand how the systems worked because there was rarely a plugin, platform, or documented process waiting to solve the problem for you.

His early Internet experience predates Google and reaches back to tools and services such as Gopher, Veronica, Netcom, ISDN, and the first generations of commercial web development. He wrote HTML in Windows Notepad before mainstream HTML editors existed and learned JavaScript, CGI, Perl, PHP, database development, and server-side systems as the technologies emerged.

In 1994, Jeffrey was asked to lead the Internet Division of a multi-million-dollar consulting and marketing company in Fort Lauderdale. Over the next five years, he oversaw the development of a large intranet course management system, online training programs, testing and assessment systems, and extensive digital content supporting sales and selling-skills programs.

The division grew from two people to a staff of 17 and became directly responsible for increasing total company revenue by more than 200%. Along the way, Jeffrey gained practical experience in product branding, requirements, strategy, team leadership, consumer marketing, and the management of complex technical systems.

He also participated in an early live-video conferencing beta over ISDN, joined the original WebTV developer program, created content for the WebTV standard, and served as an early DMOZ editor in web-hosting and development categories.

A career shaped by change

From hand-coded websites to machine-mediated discovery.

The technology has changed repeatedly. Jeffrey’s role has remained consistent: understand the system, identify what matters, build ahead of the curve, and translate complexity into practical business action.

1994–1999

Internet Division leadership

Led the development of advanced intranet, online training, assessment, and marketing systems while building a technical division from two people to 17.

Web standards, scripting languages, database systems, and online delivery models were still being invented in real time.
1999

Early online real estate and virtual tours

Founded Florida Home Browser and worked with real-estate brokers to publish searchable property listings, panoramic virtual tours, and database-driven property information years before virtual home shopping became routine.

The concept was eventually normalized across the industry by much larger national platforms.
Early eCommerce

Yahoo! Stores, Viaweb, and RTML

Became an early participating Yahoo! Store designer after Yahoo! acquired Viaweb. Jeffrey worked with RTML, a proprietary LISP-based scripting language, at a time when almost no public documentation existed.

Much of the work required experimentation, reverse engineering, and learning by doing. Yahoo! still owes him $300 from 1999.
2007–Today

WebStoreSEO and the search visibility era

WebStoreSEO was founded as the business expanded beyond platform-specific development into technical SEO, eCommerce optimization, analytics, search strategy, paid media, and broader digital visibility.

Hundreds of websites and several generations of search technology later, the work continues to evolve.
What experience changes

Clients are paying for judgment, not a checklist.

Thirty years of experience does not mean relying on thirty-year-old methods. It means recognizing patterns, understanding dependencies, and knowing which problems deserve attention before time and money are spent.

01

Pattern recognition

Jeffrey has seen platforms, tactics, algorithms, and buzzwords come and go. That history helps separate structural problems from temporary noise and prevents organizations from solving the wrong problem.

02

Technical depth

Search visibility is affected by crawling, rendering, architecture, code, data, templates, platforms, content systems, measurement, and implementation. Jeffrey understands how those layers interact.

03

Senior-level prioritization

The goal is not to produce the longest audit. It is to determine what is limiting performance, what creates the greatest opportunity, what must happen first, and who needs to own the work.

Still learning.

Jeffrey’s experience is valuable because it is continually updated. He remains actively involved in studying how search engines, answer engines, generative systems, and AI agents understand, reconcile, trust, cite, compare, and recommend business entities.

Recent work in AI and search

The next layer is already here.

Jeffrey founded Entitylytics™ to develop a disciplined, evidence-based approach to AI visibility and entity intelligence. The work examines whether machines can identify a business, understand what it does, trust its public evidence, and recognize when it should be recommended.

He is also building and training specialist AI analysts for entity resolution, entity understanding, trust signals, recommendation readiness, executive synthesis, report guidance, and technical SEO. These systems are designed around clear scope boundaries, evidence standards, confidence rules, client isolation, and human review.

  • Ongoing study of AEO, GEO, entity visibility, knowledge graphs, and machine understanding
  • Founder-led development of the Entitylytics™ analyst framework
  • Specialist AI-agent training for repeatable research, analysis, and quality assurance
  • Continued work across technical SEO, structured data, analytics, eCommerce, and AI-search readiness

“After 30 years in technical SEO and analytics, I do not believe AI is replacing SEO. I believe AI has become the interpretation layer sitting on top of the entire visibility stack.

How Jeffrey works

Direct involvement. Limited capacity. No production-line consulting.

WebStoreSEO is intentionally structured around a limited number of active partner organizations. Jeffrey works as a fractional senior search leader, diagnosing, prioritizing, coordinating, and verifying the work alongside the client’s internal marketing, development, and executive teams.

Strategy before activity

Evidence and priorities come before random optimization, content production, or development requests.

Work with the client’s team

Jeffrey provides senior direction, technical requirements, implementation review, and quality control.

Use specialists when needed

Trusted outside resources can support implementation without turning WebStoreSEO into a high-volume agency.

Keep learning

The methods continue to evolve as search, AI systems, platforms, and user behavior change.

Senior search leadership

Experience matters most when the decisions are expensive.

WebStoreSEO works with established organizations that need senior technical SEO, AEO, and GEO expertise without building a full in-house search department.
